Yes, during halftime Madonna DID look like the love child of She-Ra: Princess of Power  +  Elizabeth Taylor in Cleopatra. Did that make it any less fabulous? NEVAR.

Also, if Givenchy ever wanted to do opera, their costumes for a new version of Aida (or even a musical version of Thor, I’m not picky) would be KILLAH.

Dear god, please spare me from any fashion designers who think they can design for theatre. I have heard the stories an am not amused. :/

I was partly joking about that; should have included a winking smiley! (I have heard of the horrors that stemmed from when Isaac Mizrahi did the costumes for the Met’s Orpheus & Euridice.) Fashion and Theatre, while both containing elements of theatricality, are two completely different animals, and I understand and respect that. (Luckily Spider Man has been a dud so less superheroes will burn a path to the Great White Way? One can only hope.)

Operatic machinations aside, I did like the Givenchy costumes. I was expecting the Madonna halftime to be horrendous, honestly, I almost didn’t tune it; but I thought the costumes and staging were fab. And I adore Cee Lo so him chiming in on Like A Prayer, my fave Madonna song, made my night.

I love this film; never apologizing for it. The orange mocha cappuccino scene gets me laughing every time.

"I like strong, bold colours—I’m a positive person, so subconsciously that’s what I pick out. Only ten percent of my wardrobe is black."

"I like the memories associated with older pieces. I found my nan’s pendant a couple of years after she died. It was the color, really strong amber, that attracted me. It took me right back to her wearing it with a huge wraparound dress."

"[Describing her style] I’m quite feminine in the way I dress. I pair little dresses with cute boots. I see girls with beautiful long legs wearing jeans, but I’m only 5ft 4in. I prefer to wear skirts."

"I’m very fortunate that people dress me for work…you get used to being dressed by people to the point it becomes hard to dress yourself."

"[An early fashion memory is] Wearing Bermuda shorts with a fluorescent yellow vest when I was five. I thought I was super cool. It was the 80’s. I even had the fluorescent scrunchie in my hair to go with it. I also had a blue shell suit and Flintstone jeans with cartoons of Fred on one leg and Dino the dinosaur on the other."
